The lime tree is a versatile plant that many are unaware is also evergreen and cold hardy to zone 9. The fruit is indispensable in some cocktails and in the newer trend of fusion and Spanish based cuisines. Lime trees have the same blossom effect on bees, birds and the human nose as other fruits and give off a sweet scent, blooming year round. It’s also a hardy enough fruit tree for the backyard and will produce fruit year round. Persian and Mexican limes are traditional size but dwarf limes are available.
