Gel stain is used as an alternative to staining or painting. Gel stays on top of the wood, unlike traditional stains that actually sink in. This allows the wood textures to shine and delivers a fresh finish. Gel stains are also easier to use than the other methods mentioned. Individuals are not required to sand the wood prior to using it. Also due to it’s consistency there will be fewer drips and much less of a mess. Unfortunately, a down-side of gel stain is that it could look uneven if the surface of the project has a number of dips and corners. Overall gel stains are a great choice for wood.
