Dress up your patio with fun, quirky do-it-yourself yard art, like a metal butterfly you can create from a repurposed water bottle. You’ll want a tall, metal water bottle, with a relatively wide mouth that you can affix a metal ball to. You can use a round, metal ball to create the butterfly’s head. Or, alternately, you could repurpose a round Christmas ornament. You’ll want to punch three holes in the ball/head for the eyes and mouth, so that your insect has a near human expression. Use wire to make a halo to fit around your butterfly’s head and attach some wire antennae. You can also affix small foil balls at the end of your insect antennae. It’s nice if you give them a contrasting color, like purple. Use sheet metal for the wings of your butterfly. It’s a nice touch to make a needle pattern on the wings, much the same way you would for creating a metal lamp cover.
