Fragrant Champaca Information: Tips On Caring For Champaca Trees

For a lovely, fragrant addition to the landscape, gardeners might consider the Champaca tree. This small ornamental broad-leafed evergreen is a member of the magnolia family. It will maintain a small size and can be pruned to the desired shape. It will produce large yellow to orange flowers that are so powerfully fragrant that they are used to produce expensive perfume. These trees may be purchased potted or can be started from seed if careful instructions are followed. The Champaca tree requires warm temperatures and will not likely survive in zones colder than zone 10 or 11. The tree should be planted where it will receive morning sun and partial shade later in the day. It will also require generous watering until established.
