Growing Peruvian Daffodils: How To Grow Peruvian Daffodil Plants

Growing Peruvian Daffodils: How To Grow Peruvian Daffodil Plants

Last Modified October 31, 2017 By Staff Writer

Peruvian daffodil plants originate from Peru. The plants are perennials that grow from bulbs and produce aromatic, white blossoms each summer. The plants can tolerate partial, but not full, shade. Soil should be kept moist, but not waterlogged, so a porous mixture that drains easily is recommended. Peruvian daffodils can be grown outside in garden beds or inside as container plants. Plants grown indoors can be made to bloom early during the winter. Be advised that Peruvian daffodil bulbs are poisonous, so keep them away from pets and children.

Key Takeaways:

  • These early summer bloomers do well in full sun or partial shade with moist, well drained soil.
  • The bulbs are poisonous, so be sure to store them away from children and animals.
  • For cold climates, the bulbs should be dug up and stored until spring, then replanted.

“The Peruvian daffodil is a lovely perennial bulb that produces white-petaled flowers with pale green to yellow interior markings.”
