Annuals are the first and last to bloom in a garden. Marigolds are insect and deer resistant. These low maintenance flowers come in many bright colors such as yellow or pastel blue. Borage has lavender colored flowers and is technically an herb. This herb is drought resistant and birds and bees are attracted to it. Zinnias come in many colors and attract butterflies and prefer the sun in fall and grow very fast from seed.
