In order to build homes in challenging environments, architects are often called upon to use sustainable methods, including resilient design. Architect Dan Nelson was required to use such practices when building a waterfront home on Camano Island in Washington state. Nelson and his team were able to build a gorgeous house, in the modern style, while also protecting the structure from mudslides.
