How To: Get Rid of Aphids

If you’re having trouble with your garden plants shriveling, yellowing, or curling, check the underside of the leaves. You may find groups of aphids as the culprit. These pests come in shades of white, black, yellow, green, brown, or red. First you need to remove them. Simply hose the garden down and spray the leaves with insecticidal soap or pesticide. Next step is prevention. You can introduce beneficial bugs like beetles, lacewings, and wasps. Another method is applying dormant oil. The most natural method is planting other plants that deter aphids such as oregano, chive, sage, or garlic. It will help to reduce the aphids over the long term.
